Saver vs. Manager
I have been using SessionSaver for about half a year or something. Especially during the last months, I noticed that my Firefox became slower and slower. Switching tabs could take a second and when restarting the browser it took like a minute to shutdown and another minute to launch again. I'm not 100% sure whether that was SessionSavers' fault alone, but once I disabled it in favor of SessionManager, everything sped up. It may be that it interferenced with another Extension, I don't know exactly.
Anyway, I came across SessionManager and immediatly decided to give it a try. The result is very positive. It lacks a few config options which SessionSaver has (it's the same the other way 'round, though). But! It's blazingly fast! And at least for me, I do not miss any of the config options.
My Firefox now shuts down really fast and starts up the same way. As the name already denotes, SessionManager also has some advanced options to organize sessions.
So in conclusion, if you are looking for a session saver extension for Firefox (or are already using SessionSaver), you should definitely give SessionManager a try as well.
Update 7/29/2006: I recently switched to Firefox 2.0 Beta 1, which introduced a bug that constantly crashes SessionManager. I decided to go ahead and to use the Session Manager included in Tab Mix Plus. It serves its purpose very well, too.
